What to Expect
Open to all band students from primary school to university level, the WBAS Youth Band Festival aims to provide an exciting and dynamic platform for Singapore’s serious young musicians to make great music in a highly collaborative setting. Band students will experience advanced band musical literature, learn to develop ownership to a culture of excellence, be it musical or extra-musical, cultivated in a highly collaborative setting and develop friendship through music to effect sharing of best practices and exchange of ideas in a healthily competitive environment.
In this youth band festival, participants will take part in rehearsals and workshops spanning a total of four days and will be mentored by high-profiled music educators from both local and overseas institutions with sectionals taught by professional musicians. Participants will also get to perform at the Finale Concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 15th of December 2019.
Past conductors that we have worked with includes: Mark Heron (UK), Bjorn Stagstad (Norway), Apo Hsu (Taiwan), Toru Miura (Japan) David Waybright (USA), Masanori Fukuda (Japan), Lien Boon Hua (Singapore), Seow Yibin (Singapore), Quek Boon Hui (Singapore), Mohd Faizal (Singapore), Adrian Chiang (Singapore), Tay Kai Tze (Singapore).

This year, we are happy to have conductors Felix Hauswirth, Wilson Ong and Yeo Jieyuan and a team of professional instrument tutors work with us for the WBAS Youth Band Festival!

All interested musicians have been selected via audition and allocated into three ensembles of different age and repertoire. Participants should receive their music by end Oct 2019.
